Tucked away is our hidden jewel, a rarely seen colored early BING Sentry teddy bear of dark spruce green mohair from 1920s or slightly earlier, measuring 11 1/2" tall to top of head.

Lovingly cared for and a beautiful treasure, he has mohair loss and a few small holes expected from age and handling. Original orangey glass eyes are back painted & his nose floss and most claws are very good. His mouth threads have separated apart but could easily be tacked down to meet. The few small holes he has aren’t bad for his age, two teeny ones on his muzzle, on his hump, back of head near neck, lower back and upper chest just under the bow exposing the stuffing color but not leaking and seem easily fixed. All of his felt pads were recovered long ago in an early homespun fabric. The seams that run down the back of both his legs are characteristic of the “tiptoe” Bing Sentry bears. His squeaker no longer works, the joints move well to pose.

In person he looks very dark green depending upon the light with a faded blackish backing and about 50-60% of his fur remains. See photos from the German price guide book Teddybären AB 1904 , well written & depicted by notable authors & collectors Christel & Rolf Pistorius.

Lichen will win your Heart, such a handsome early boy rarely found in his color with a gorgeous soulful face. Look for him hiding in your Christmas tree or evergreen boughs this time of year.
